Background

• Consent Decrees in 2004
• Bacteria is Pollutant of Concern
• State of Ohio Water quality Standard is based on
  E. coli content
• 130 cfu/100milliliters (30 day geometric means)
• 240 cfu/100 mililiters (single sample maximum)

• Wet Weather Improvement Program will improve the
  water quality in Ohio river
• But
• MSDGC will not meet water quality standard
• But
• Ohio river will be fully protective of
  recreational use when coupled with a recreation
  management program

Program Objective

• The objective of the recreation management
  program is to provide the public with meaningful
  information related to water quality and public
  safety in a time frame that allows informed
  decisions to be made regarding recreation in
  local water bodies.
