  together that orbits the sun

• Ion-electrically charged ions, always points away

• Dust- follows the orbit of the comet
• Can extend millions of km
• Nucleus
• Averages 3 miles in diameter, by can be between ½
  and 100 km
• Solid, rocky, icy center
• Shows different features near the sun

• Oort cloud- sphere the surrounds the solar system
• Kuiper Belt- outside orbit of Neptune
