minority group - Its the only minority group that anyone can join
at any time
4Some General GuidelinesReview of Disability
Etiquette
- Speak directly to the person, not to an
interpreter or translator - Do not distract service animals
- Avoid using inappropriate phrases (handicapped,
crippled etc.) - Treat adults in an adult manner (no baby talk)
- Be at eye-level with someone in wheel chair
- For deaf people tap the shoulder face them, let
them know when youre leaving - Be patient with people who have speech
difficulties

5When Assisting Customers with Disabilities
- Offer services for persons with disabilities to
everyone - Dont be afraid to offer assistance if you see a
customer is struggling - Be tactful and diplomatic in offering (Examples)
- Wait for the customer to tell you if you can
assist before proceeding - Assist the customer in the way the customer has
requested if it seems reasonable - If you cannot assist in the way a customer asks,
find an alternative, effective solution and offer
it. - Under law, it is not an option to say NO..SORRY
We are required to provide a reasonable
accommodation for people with special needs.
