Title: The Greenhouse Effect Is Causing Global Warming'''
1The Greenhouse Effect Is Causing Global Warming...
But Not An ACTUAL Greenhouse
BY ALEX WILLIAMS 9B
2IN THIS PRESENTATION WE WILL LEARN
WHAT GLOBAL WARMING IS AND WHAT
IT DOES TO OUR WORLD
3The Greenhouse Effect Scientists are sure about
the greenhouse effect. They know that greenhouse
gases make the Earth warmer by trapping energy in
the atmosphere.
Climate Change Climate is the long-term average
of a region's weather events lumped together. For
example, it's possible that a winter day in
Buffalo, New York, could be sunny and mild, but
the average weather the climate tells us that
Buffalo's winters will mainly be cold and include
snow and rain. Climate change represents a change
in these long-term weather patterns. They can
become warmer or colder. Annual amounts of
rainfall or snowfall can increase or decrease.
4WE CAN STOP GLOBAL WARMING IT ISNT TO LATE, BUT
WE ALL HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER TO STOP IT.
5 EARLY SIGNS OF GLOBAL WARMING!NS OF GLOBAL W
Ocean warming, sea-level rise and
coastal flooding Glaciers melting Arctic and
Antarctic warming Events that foreshadow the
types of impacts likely to become more frequent
and widespread with continued warming. Spreading
disease Earlier spring arrival Plant and animal
range shifts and population changes Coral reef
bleaching Downpours, heavy snowfalls, and
flooding Droughts and fires

7 THE SOLUTIONS!
Reduce production and combustion of fossil fuels,
and hence emissions of carbon dioxide. Pressure
U.S. politicians to support international
treaties to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
(joining most of the world's nations). Work to
expose corporate propaganda and Astroturf groups
that are opposed to global warming controls--
tell your friends, speak to community groups,
write to newspapers, join and support
environmental groups, etc. As Mother Jones said,
"Raise hell. De-privatise (i.e., socialize) U.
S. power companies, which will allow faster
transition from fossil fuels to renewable forms
of energy, without regard for private profits.
(Renewable face the continued obstacle of the
political power of the utility, nuclear and
fossil fuels industries. However, the U.S. public
strongly supports funding of renewable.)
