Title: The Campus Plan and Youth Ministry Issues
1The Campus Plan and Youth Ministry Issues
2What does appropriate dedicated youth space mean?
(Webters Dictionary)
- Appropriate Set apart for a particular use
suitable. -
Dedicated To devote wholly or chiefly.
3Current Areas of Ash Creek that are appropriate
and dedicated
Preschool space at the ground floor Education
Building is dedicated. Preschool SS and extended
session meets there. Weekday Preschool uses the
floor. There is no time when Children, Youth or
Adults meet on this floor.
Childrens space at the ground floor below the
Worship Center is dedicated. Childrens SS and
Missions groups meet there. Events like Harvest
Fest use the space. There is no time when
Preschool, Youth or Adults meet on this floor.
Adult space at the second floor Education
Building is dedicated. Adult SS and Discipleship
classes meet there. Committee meetings use the
floor. There is no time when Preschool, Children
or Youth meet on this floor.
4Long Range PlanAppropriate dedicated space for
Wednesday night youth activities.
The Long Range Plan was intended to provide space
similar to that just mentioned. This would not be
a shared space but a space where youth ministry
occurs. This is currently being done in the
Youth Room of the temporary building which will
someday be removed. A new dedicated area
appropriate for youth ministry is intended for
the next building phase.

of Youth Ministry and its use of space.

24Current Plan being presented does not fulfill
this vision.
- No youth informal assembly.
- No activities room/area. (There is currently one
in the youth room.) - No storage for youth equipment at second floor.
Youth minister will need to transport equipment
up to second floor every week to setup. - No Kitchen or service preparation area.
- No space that could have youth décor.
- Youth SS space would be split from this assembly
space. Future class expansions would require the
Youth Division to be split across the campus.
25A new site plan should be investigated that will
provide the mandate from the Long Range Plan.
- The present plan appears to have been produced
around other limiting factors and then the
question was asked where can we put the youth
ministry. - The process should start with addressing item
three of the Long Range Plan by meeting the needs
for appropriate dedicated space for the youth
ministry.
26The following is an example of what appropriate
designated youth space may look like on the site
plan.
- Provides youth space that will work with Sunday
School and Wednesday Night Activity needs. - Opportunity to grow as ministry grows until there
are Twelve rooms and two areas for informal
gathering.
