Title: S'C' Federal Credit Unions Successful Portal RollOut
1S.C. Federal Credit Unions Successful Portal
Roll-Out!
(Timeframe for installing, creating
pages/workgroups, training, and implementing the
portal was 2 ½ months.)
2The portal at our credit union is known as
- CURC
- (Credit Union Resource Center)
3Our first task was to create a Portal Project Team
- The Portal Project Team consisted of 11 employees
from various areas throughout the credit union - They helped create, design, and reorganize all
the data within the portal
4What were our main goals for the new portal?
- Make it User-Friendly
- Train all employees on the portal
- Allow all areas to have their own portal
administrator - Give users information that is entertaining along
with information that relates to their job duties
5At the time of the portal implementation, we had
about 410 employees
- With the number of employees and the way
workgroups are segregated, we needed to decide
how many Portal Administrators we needed.
6Deciding how many Portal Administrators are
needed
- 12 administrators handled the primary functions
on our Pre-Portal System (A.K.A. The
Intranet) - Currently we have 85 Portal Administrators
(Please note The 85 Portal Administrators only
have rights for updating their workgroups
information and creating their own workgroups.
We only have a total of 5 employees who have full
Portal Administration rights.)
7How did we decide to have 85 portal
administrators?
- We reviewed each branch/departments information
from the Old CURC and decided which employees
from each area should be a Portal Administrator - 2 Portal Administrators were named for each
branch (The Branch Manager and Head Teller) - The number of Portal Administrators for each
department varied
8Training the Portal Administrators
- Each employee identified as a Portal
Administrator attended an 8 hour training class - The first 4 hours was general end-user training
- The last 4 hours covered how to create workgroups
and pages, upload content, and the functions of
the available islands
9General End-User Employee Training
- All employees attended a 4 hour general end-user
training class. Topics included - Navigating through the portal
- An overview of the pages within the credit
unions main workgroup - Creating a Personal Page
- The purpose of the Headquarters page
- Using the search feature
10General End-User Employee Training
- General End-User Portal Training went very well
- The biggest complaint was that we needed more
chocolate in the training room candy bowls - If we had to go through this same situation a
second time, we would definitely train all
employees again
11Different Items that were added to make CURC
interesting
12The Employee Highlights page is used for
announcing weddings, births, kudos, pictures from
around the credit union, etc.
13The Fun Zone! page is where employees answer the
Daily Fun Poll, play the Weekly or Monthly
Contests, and view the Joke of the Month
14The Weather Center page provides an up-to-date
weather map of the US along with the 7 day
forecast, weather alerts, and weather contingency
tips
15We felt the Portal rollout went so well because
- We trained all employees on the portal
- Each page in the main workgroup was explained
- We added some fun and interesting items to keep
end-users interest - We play Weekly and Monthly Contests to reinforce
what was taught in the portal training
16Please feel free to ask any questions.
Thank you for your time!
