Woven mats may have been hung over these T-shaped
doorways, offering a little privacy, as well as
keeping heat in during winter and keeping the
heat out during the summer.

Basketmakers

• The early basketmakers clothed themselves in fur
  or turkey
• feather robes, string aprons, loincloths and
  round-toed plant-
• fiber sandals.
• They mostly raised corn and squash and planted
  them in gardens
• rather than in large fields.

Roles

• The men hunted with spears instead of bows and
  arrows
• Women gathered wild food plants such as amaranth,
  pinyon
• nuts, Indian rice grass, sunflower seeds, and
  mustard seeds.
• They use coarse stone basins to grind the seeds
  into flour and
• cooked the food in baskets using hot stones to
  heat it up.
• Eventually they started making pottery and using
  bows and arrows.
