2Purpose
To investigate microcoaxial and clear corneal
incision (CCI) architecture in the postoperative
period using non-contact anterior segment optical
coherence tomography (Visante OCT ,Carl Zeiss)
3Methods
- Prospective study
- 30 patients submitted to phaco
- Incision
- Microcoaxial 2.20 mm width (15 eyes)
- Clear corneal 2.75 mm width (15 eyes)
- IOL implantation
- Monarch injector
- Cartridge C
4Methods
- Postoperative evaluation
- 1st day, 1st and 3rd months
- Slitlamp examination
- Seidel test
- IOP measurement
- Visante OCT
- Incision architecture
- Configuration
- Coaptation
- Stability
5Results
No Descemets Detachment was observed at
slitlamp examination
6 Visante OCT MicrocoaxiaL Incision
- Detachment of Descemets membrane
- 1 day postoperative
1 month postoperative
7 Visante OCT Clear Corneal Incision
1 day postoperative
8 Visante OCT MicrocoaxiaL x Clear corneal
Incisions

11Conclusions
- Visante OCT analysis of Microcoaxial and
Clear Corneal Incision post phaco showed - a higher percentage of Descemets Detachment in
the Microcoaxial group at the 1st postoperative
day - that localized detachment of Descemets membrane
may be more common than observed with slit-lamp
microscopy - different incisions' configurations between the
two groups with no difference regarding proper
coaptation and stability.
