Why Get Involved?
  • Latinos are a significant demographic in Weld
    County, yet there is little to no Latino
    representation in local government.
  • Equal representation requires Latinos Register
    and Vote
  • Greeley City Council -None
  • Weld County Commissioners - None
  • Greeley School Board - One
  • The American political process is based on voter
    participation
  • When all members of society vote, the outcome is
    a more inclusive society. Once a person has voted
    2-3 times they become lifelong voters

Every Vote Counts
  • Example 1 Greeley 2005 City Council Election
  • At Large Seat won by1,533 votes
  • Ward II ran unopposed with 1,925 votes
  • Ward III won by 655 votes
  • Example 2 Greeley District 6 School Board
  • 1689 votes separated a winner from a loser
  • Example 3 Evans April 2006 Elections
  • Population 17,000, Registered Voters 7,197,
    Only 461 ballots were cast (6.4)
  • Mayor won with only 348 votes vs. 107 votes

  • Founded in 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas
  • This country's largest and oldest Latino civic
    volunteer organization
  • Approx 115,000 members (USA and PR)
  • Mission is to advance the economic conditions,
    educational attainment, political influence,
    health and civil rights of the Hispanic
    population of the United States

Greeley LULAC Council 30005
  • Established in 1983
  • Mission education, leadership, health,
    recreation, and cultural pride of Latino youths
  • Accomplishments
  • Awarded 300,000 in scholarships to over 300
    youths.
  • Established 41 LULAC youth councils in
    middle/high schools throughout Northern Colorado.
  • Sponsors annual LULAC youth Leadership and
    Education Conference at the UNC

  • Host a televised bilingual public candidate forum
    for Weld County
