Collaborative Partners
  • The Clinical Nurse Leader will make a real
difference in bedside nursing. With advanced
education and a hands-on approach, this nurse is
prepared to effectively manage care in the
complex hospital environment to achieve benchmark
    outcomes for the patient.
  • Linda Fahey, RN, MS, Vice President, Chief
    Nursing Officer, Decatur Memorial Hospital.

19
Central Illinois Partnerships
  • We are thrilled to support Millikin's program
for the Clinical Nurse Leader. Health care is an
ever changing field of study and practice.
    Advancing technology, increasing psychosocial
    demands, an aging
  • population, and an expanding knowledge base,
at the same time that we are projecting a nursing
shortage ------ means we need to develop our
clinician leaders. We need our best and
brightest using enhanced clinical and assessment
skills at the bedside. These Clinical Nurse
Leaders will manage patient care and improve the
quality of care our patients receive. This is
    our future.
  • --Theresa Rutherford, MSN, MBA, RN, Chief
Operating Officer and Chief Nurse Executive, St.
    Marys Hospital, Decatur, IL.

20
Central Illinois Partnerships (contd)
  • "Strong innovative academic-service partnerships
are essential to meet the growing healthcare
needs of our region and to overcome the
challenges of the nursing shortage both here in
Central Illinois and across the country. We are
proud and energized by the ongoing collaborative
relationship we have with Millikin University
School of Nursing and the mutual benefit we've
both experienced from our work together.
  • -- Marsha Prater , PhD, RN, CNAA, FACHE VP,
Patient Care Services Chief Nursing Officer,
    Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

21
Collaborative partnerships (contd)
  • At Carle, we are examining the role of the
Clinical Leader for changing bedside practice.
The future of clinical nursing requires strong
    administrative and clinical teams working
together to implement best practices. Working
with educational programs to prepare the future
leaders is part of Carles mission. Nurses
educated at the masters level will ensure
innovative care for a stronger delivery system.
  • --Pam Bigler, RN, MS, CNAA, BC, Vice President
Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer,
    Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

    profession." K. Bloom, BSN
