Title: SAHRA GeoDatabase: Data Access

1
SAHRA Geo-Database Data Access
SAHRA geo-database synthesizes spatial and
temporal data from public and private sources as
well as data developed by SAHRA researchers to
support SAHRA modeling and research activities.
Its goal is to make SAHRA generated data and
results available to the hydrologic community.
One of the main database development activities
focuses on implementing information standards in
hydrology for data loading, data storing and data
distribution. Such standards are currently being
developed in collaboration with CUAHSI and AWI
(Arizona Water Institute). The database
consists of several smaller schemes which are
more manageable and straightforward to implement
SAHRA Data Policy. These schemes store specific
data developed by SAHRA researchers (flux towers,
LiDAR, water quality, forcing datasets, etc.) as
well as public data (stream flows, climate,
groundwater levels, seamless NHD, Census data,
etc). Web services will play a major role in the
dissemination of spatial and time series data.
The prototype implementation of web services
for data distribution is presented as well as the
current status of the data collection for the
Upper San Pedro and Upper Rio Grande river
basins.

SAHRA Data Web Services Web services are
web-based applications that use open, XML-based
standards and transport protocol to exchange
data. Their advantage is software and platform
interoperability and ubiquity. Web services
would play a major role in the dissemination of
spatial and time series data, data analysis and
modeling. SAHRA data web service is a set of
methods for data query, visualization and
download with similar structure as CUAHSI web
services.
  • Methods
  • getSites
  • This method will return a list of selected rain
gages in the Upper San Pedro Basin together with
basic site description (site code, site name,
    latitude and longitude).
  • getSiteInfo
  • This method will return site information for the
Upper San Pedro Basin. The site information
includes site code, site name, site type,
coordinates and etc. and a list of variables
    measured at the site.
  • getVariables
  • This method will return a list of variables
(variable code and name) for rain precipitation
in the Upper San Pedro Basin
  • getVariableInfo
  • This method will return variable information for
rain precipitation in the Upper San Pedro Basin.
The variable information includes code, name,
    unit and time interval
  • getValues
  • This method will return a comma delimited file
that contains site code, date and precipitation
value in mm for selected variable code, area and
    time period
  • Getchart
  • This method returns a graph image and comma
delimited file of time series for selected
    station, variable and time period.
  • getImage
  • This method returns a daily grided
a1 precipitation data in a format of image and
ASCII grid with a spatial resolution of 200 m for
the central part of the Upper San Pedro Basin.
The Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method was
    used to interpolate data.
