Aim Of Briefing

• To update APC Leaders on the Assessment Matrix
  Process Practical Assessment
• To familiarize APC Leaders on the various
  training modules for APC 1 and 2 Courses
• To revisit some practical skills

Course Structure - Revisit

• APC 1 and 2 are deliberately designed to ensure
  progressive learning in a safe and controlled
  environment.
• APC 1 and 2 are also designed as introductory and
  encouragement courses ie to promote the sport
  with strong emphasis on safety processes.
• Participants will be trained and assessed
  primarily in technical skills related to
  abseiling activities in educational and
  recreational settings.

Course Structure - Revisit

• The course structure includes indoor and outdoor
  practical sessions with theoretical input to
  reinforce their knowledge and skills.
• Participants are required a 100 attendance for
  the course. Absence with valid reasons will be
  considered on a case-to-case basis.
• Upon successful completion of the programme, all
  participants will be issued with a Certificate of
  Proficiency from SMF.

APC 1 - Introductory Level

• To equip the participants with the following
  skills and knowledge
• Essential knowledge on equipment used for
  abseiling activities
• Able to set up their abseil system (proficient
  use of Fig. of 8 and karabiner for abseiling)
• Able to apply proper abseiling command and
  perform a safe and controlled descent
• Able to perform a self rescue technique (apply
  lock-on with leg wrap)

APC 2 Personal Proficiency

• To equip the participants with the following
  skills and knowledge
• Able to set up a fixed abseiling system static
  system
• Able to perform a safe and control descend using
  other descending device eg (ATC, Tuber bars)
• Able to demonstrate sound prussicking skills
  (ascend and descend)
• Able to perform a self rescue technique (recovery
  from a loaded prussick)
