This is the "Great Bath" in Mohenjo-daro. The
"great bath" is without a doubt the earliest
public water tank in the ancient world
This picture shows a Bullock cart and boat. A
traditional bullock cart and flat bottomed ferry
boat are still used for local transport along
the Indus River near the ancient site of
Mohenjo-daro.

HARAPPA
Here is a portrait of the civilization of
Harappa. It portrays the typical scene of the
people.
In Harappa, a large drain and sewage system was
found when excavated.
4
MAURYAN EMPIRE
The Mauryan empire was established under the
leadership of Chandragupta Maurya (322 BC - 296
BC). Under Chandragupta Maurya, the whole of
northern India was united.
Asoka was the son of Chandragupta Maurya. He
expanded the empire and strengthened the imperial
rule of the empire also. His only battle that he
fought was the Battle of Kalinga which inspired
him to be a Buddhist.

HINDUISM and GODS
Hinduism has many branches of God that come in
various forms in order to reach Brahma, our
ultimate God. Although there are numerous
branches this should not be confused with a
polytheistic faith. Many Hindus pray to an
object symbolizing the god (i.e.statues,
pictures and fire).
6
BUDDHISM AND JAINISM
These are two religions that developed from
Hinduism because of differing ideas from their
founders. Buddhism was founded by Siddharta
Gautama (left) and Jainism founded by Mahivira.
Despite the differences, these religions are very
similar to Hinduism.
