  Theres nothing so mysterious about it. Hes not
  working at all. Hes playing. Or else hes
  forgotten all about us.

• Catch-22? Sure. If I take you off combat duty,
  Group has to approve my action, and Group isnt
  going to. Theyll put you right back on combat
  status, and then where will I be? On my way to
  the Pacific Ocean, probably.

Yossarian

• Yossarian also worried about Ewings tumor and
  melanoma. Catastrophes were lurking everywhere,
  too numerous to count. When he contemplated the
  many diseases . . . Potential accidents. . . . It
  was miraculous. Each day he faced was another
  dangerous mission against mortality. And he had
  been surviving them for 28 years.

Peckham and Dreedle

• War is hell
• . . . He believed that the young men who took
  orders from him should be willing to give up
  their lives for the ideals, aspirations, and
  idiosyncrasies of the old men they took orders
  from.
• General Peckem even recommends that we send our
  men into combat in full-dress uniform so theyll
  make a good impression on the enemy when theyre
  shot down.
