Title: ICSM Harmonised Data Model Version 2

1
ICSM Harmonised Data Model Version 2
  • Native Title in the Harmonised Data Model

2
Introduction
  • The ICSM Harmonised Data Model (HDM) is a model
for the main data sets that are of interest to
    the ICSM.
  • The Native Title working group has developed a
data model that represents native title
    information.
  • Work has been done over the last few months to
include the native title data model in the ICSM
HDM and to update the HDM.
  • This presentation outlines the native title
elements of the new HDM (v2).

3
Outline
  • Background
  • The current work on the data model.
  • Summary of UML modelling components?
  • The Harmonised Data Model v2.
  • Brief overview of all the packages
  • The Rights, Restrictions and Responsibilities
    package.
  • The Native Title package.
  • Where to from here? Next steps.

4
Background (1)
  • The HDM is part of the Harmonised Framework
    (HDF).
  • The HDF consists of a number of data components
that are important for the creation of a Spatial
    Data Infrastructure
  • data model
  • feature type catalogue/data dictionary
  • metadata specification and
  • encoding standards.

5
Background (2)
  • The first HDM was published in 2002 and included
cadastral, topographic, place names and street
    address components.
  • It used emerging ISO 191xx standards.
  • It included a feature type catalogue which
    included
  • a data dictionary and
  • some code values (lookup tables).

6
The Current Work
  • The work currently being done on the data model
    includes
  • updating use of the ISO standards (metadata,
geometry and topology, gazetteer) and ensuring
    compliance
  • adding in components or place holders for more
    recent data additions including geodesy,
    surveying and native title and
  • generalising the cadastral component to handle a
    range of rights, restrictions and
    responsibilities.

Where to From Here?
  • Some modelling to be finalised.
  • Data dictionary requires input from the Native
    Title working group.
  • Generation of the GML Application Schema.
  • Test implementation using real data.
