Proposal for merging the collaborations

• AMANDA IceCube will officially become one
  collaboration at the March meeting 2005 at
  Berkeley 2005 (some celebration organised by
  Buford?)
• AMANDA data will be available for all IceCube
  members.
• Author-ships for publications based on data taken
  up to end of 2004 will mainly be for "old" AMANDA
  people plus people which have significantly
  contributed to the analysis or data gathering.
• Author-ships for using AMANDA data including data
  taken after 1st of January 2005 will be open for
  all members of the IceCube collaboration.
• Lutz Kopke will continue as AMANDA analysis
  co-ordinator for analysis based on AMANDA only.
• Name of collaboration will be IceCube.
• The IceCube governance document will be the
  ruling document for the collaboration .

Future of AMANDA

• AMANDA will remain as a running part of IceCube
  as long as it is scientifically motivated.
• E.g. using AMANDA as a low energy detector with
  the outer IceCube strings as veto will allow a
  much improved solar Wimp analysis.
• No analysis of AMANDA data should be slowed down
  waiting for IceCube software to be developed. Too
  many students are depending on this. Need good
  AMANDA software/hardware.
• But new students should start to use IceCube
  software for analysing AMANDA/IceCube data within
  2-3 years.

CERN recognized experiment

• Will give us right to use CERN software
• CERN/Fermilab development for scientific use of
  Linux Scientific Linux. Long term stability!
• Access to CERN for meetings and basic service.
• Access to CERN accounts
• Very good for European groups in general
• ICECube will be presented for CERN Research Board
  in December 2004.

First year of IceCube data!?

• First real data will be presented at the next
  Collaboration meeting in Berkeley March 2005!
• Let us work to get that real!!
