Title: The Gym Nest

1
The Gym Nest
  • BYCHYNA EMEL- BJORKLAND

2
This room is where classes practice and perform.
3
The Tumble Track is used to tumble and practice
your strengths on bouncing into vaults.
4
The Pit is where you land your flips on bars or
vaults.
5
The bar gloves help you to not get blisters on
your hands while flipping on bars and they give
you a better grip on the bars.
6
The beams help you learn to balance while
performing.
7
The springboard is where you jump, then bounce
into a vault and land on the red mat in front of
the springboard.
8
This is the 1st,2nd,and 3rd place stand. You
stand here to receive awards.
9
Here are most of the trophies our Gym Nest team
has won in past competitions.
10
These hoops are the rings. Gymnasts flip and
turn. Your arms get more flexible and stronger to
hold weight and teach balance.
11
This is the horse. Gymnasts climb on it and gain
strength in your arms and learn to do handstands
not only on a flat surface but also on thin bars
or on handles.
12
These are parallel bars. You walk back and forth
on your arms and balance with your feet in the
air.
13
This is a team member practicing her swing on
bars.
14
This is a straight vertical
handstand, which takes
strength in the wrists and in the arms.
15

These are two different kinds of splits a
Chinese and a regular split.
16
This is a beautiful star pose by one of the Gym
Nests team members.
17
This is a complicated type of bridge. It is
called an overlapped bridge.
18
This is a split handstand on a beam. As you can
see this girl has great balance and flexibility.
19
This is a split on the beam. In the background
the girl is doing an upside down mountain-like
pose.
20
This is another gorgeous pose on the beam.
21
Here is a six year old gymnast doing a split in
the air while holding onto the rings.

What it takes to be a gymnast
  • Being a gymnast takes courage because one must
do many difficult routines. A gymnast must be
brave because if you are scared you could get
injured. You must also be strong in order to hold
your body straight and in the right position. It
takes power and experience. One must practice in
order to perform well and compete. The most
important thing is to belief in yourself and know
that you can do it. No Pain, No Gain!!!
