Introduction

• The main goal of this course is to
  introducing the basic methods for laboratory
  diagnosis, as its an important for veterinarians
  whose working in laboratories of the agriculture
  regions to know these basic methods, This course
  was held in Central Veterinary Diagnostic
  Laboratory, Office of the Ministry in Sharjah
  form (29-5-2004 to 2-6-2004).

• The course was divided in to five sections
  started by introducing the Basic Biosafety Rules
  for handling of the biological material and
  classification of the microorganism by the risk
  group so as to avoid the infection by various
  dangerous microorganisms.
• The second section is the Staining Methods and
  Culture Media and it deals with the various kinds
  of stains and staining procedures also define in
  briefly the types of media and their different
  uses.

• The third section shows the Laboratory Diagnosis
  and Control of Brucellosis, this disease was
  introduced in this course because of its
  importance as it is a Zoonotic disease, which
  causes Undulant fever in human, and the control
  of the disease in the animals is essential for
  controlling of it in the human.
• This section presents the different species
  of the causative bacteria, The collection of
  samples for different diagnostic methods, also
  the methods for serological diagnosis, and
  finally types of vaccine which can be used.

• The forth section deals with Blood Parasite and
  it show the main blood parasite
  (Anaplasma, Theileria, Babiesia,
  Trypanosoma), How we can make blood film, and the
  diagnostic procedure for each one, and also the
  differential diagnosis for them.
• The fifth section introduce the diagnosis of
  helminthiasis which include the sampling,
  macroscopic and different Microscopic methods
  also showing the different species of helminthes
  which can affect the animals.
