Title: ACTIVE TOURISM
1ACTIVE TOURISM
- In the first outdoor off-road
- recreational area
- in Romania
2RECREATION is not a luxuryIt is a necessity of
the modern life
- Different people with different hobbies still
have something in common the trails - Sharing the same area, they enjoy different kind
of recreational activities...
3The first outdoor off-road recreational area
is located in Southwestern Romania, along the E
70 European Roadand the Orient Express rail
route
- Easy access from any Western European country,
heading Vienna and Budapest -
- Tourist Info Center and
- international airport
- in Timisoara
- Close to the Danube Tourist Route
4Since 1995, EnduRoMania Foundationis planing and
promotingthe active tourism in the region
- The area includes the Southwestern Carpathians
(over 2200 meters heights) and - The mountains known as Banat Highland (Semernic,
Anina, Almajului, Locvei)?
5The lack of infrastructureis being used as an
advantage
- The roads are in bad condition, but currently
used by the local people for their transportation
needs and activities - The roads are excellent for off-road tourism
and very appreciated by the enduro riders and 4x4
drivers -
6 We are using the succesful experience from the
USA
- The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Program
was born in 1971 out of the critical need to
better manage growing demands for off-highway
recreation, while at the same time foster respect
for private property rights and protect
California's natural and cultural resources.
Today, this program, a division of the California
Department of Parks and Recreation, is the
largest and most successful program of its type
in the U.S. Today, the program continues its
commitment to provide safe, enjoyable recreation
while balancing the need to protect the state's
resources.
7- This forest road looks like a Romanian one, but
it is in California. - If this kind of tourism is being practiced in one
of the most advanced regions of the world, we are
convinced that it is suitable also from Romania.
Thus, the poor infrastructure and the unspoiled
nature is a real potential for tourism
development in Romania, in contrast with the
highly developed and overcrowded Europe.
8EnduRoMania is an unique off-road event - more
orienteering than speed- more tourism than
competition- more team-spirit than breaking
records
- Using maps, compass or GPS, looking for about 80
checkpoints, riding 5 days in an area of 40000
square kilometers, teams of minimum 3 members are
free to decide on their routes, according to
their skills and intentions
9The special maps are edited in cooperation with
Kartographie Huber publisher from Münich
- 1 100 000 is the ideal scale
- for the details on the maps
-
