Title: Advanced Features in Pro/E

1
Advanced Features in Pro/E
  • Sweep and Blend

2
Review of creating basic features
  • Steps of constructing basic features.
  • Define the material protruding direction, path
or trajectory. (straight ling, circle, etc.)?
    Generalized dimension. ? DOF1.
  • Define a cross-section for the feature. (with
    dimensions). ? 2D sketching.
  • Define depth along the path of the feature.
(depth, angle, etc.) ? 3D solid Object.

3
General ideas of creating features
  • The cross-section of a feature is usually
perpendicular to extending direction, path or
trajectory. ? Find the most proper cross-section
    (2D) and appropriate path (1D). ? 3D feature.
  • Good for protrusion, cut, hole, round, chamfer,
    etc.
  • The idea is to make a feature fully constrained
    in the 3D space.

4
Protrusion and Cut
  • Extrude (and hole)
  • Path ? normal to the sketch plane.?Line.(1D)
  • Sketch ? specify cross-section (2D)
  • Revolve (and hole)
  • Path ? normal to the sketch. ? Circle. (1D)
  • Sketch ? specify cross-section (2D)
  • Fully constrained in space.

5
Round and Chamfer
  • Path ? pick the edges. (1D)
  • Cross-section ? radius or definitions. (2D)

6
Conclusion of basic features
  • Find an appropriate cross-section along a
    specified path. ? observation
  • Pick a suitable feature type in pro/E to create
    one. ? analysis
  • Pick proper references. ? sketching plane,
    orientation, dimensioning.

7
Advanced features I ? Sweep
  • Generalized protruding path trajectory.(1D)
  • Open trajectory.
  • Closed trajectory.
  • Cross-section (2D)
  • Closed cross-section.
  • Open cross-section with closed trajectory.

8
Advanced features II ? Blend
  • Parallel
  • Direction ? normal to sketch plane. (1D)
  • Sketch ? different layers. (2D for each layer.)
  • Rotational
  • Sketch ? different layers. (2D for each layer.)
  • Rotation angle ? normal to current sketch.(1D)
  • Blend vertex ? control points for Blend
