Parish Requirements
  • All employees and volunteers who have previously
    read and signed the Diocesan Sexual Misconduct
    Policy, the Background Questionnaire Concerning
    Sexual Abuse and the Guidelines for Ethics
    Integrity in Ministry MUST initial these forms
    annually.
  • ( It is recommended that this signing and all
    training takes place at the beginning of the
    academic year)

Parish Guidelines
  • Keep records of the persons whom the parish has
    submitted background checks
  • Keep sign off forms for Sexual Misconduct policy
    and Ethics and Integrity Guideline in
    personnel/volunteer files.
  • Background checks need to be completed once and
    upon notification of the Vicar General.
  • Pastors will be notified if a concern arises. The
    pastor must act on this concern. Criminal
    background checks will point out felony
    violations.

Parish Guidelines (cont)
  • Each parish should have a safe environment
    contact person. This person should attend the
    safe environment training annually.
  • All staff and volunteers are expected to view the
    2006 - 2007 powerpoint Keeping Boundaries.

  • A curriculum for all students in schools and
    religious education programs must take place.
  • A parish bulletin/newsletter announcement is
    provided to share with parents prior to the
    presentation of the curriculum.
  • The policy and guidelines, the powerpoint,
    Keeping Boundaries needs to be available for
    parents in every parish.

  • Each year parishes are expected to complete a
    parish compliance report and submit this to the
    Chancery no later than June.
