  • Self contained one two bedroom flats, with full
    kitchen/ bathrooms, usually to mobility
    standards and ideally wheelchair standards
  • Emergency alarm system/Telecare
  • Staff facilities, offices, sleepover
    accommodation etc
  • Barrier free spaces which are accessible, aid
    mobility and are fully equipped with lifts to all
    floors
  • A range of service areas for hairdressing,
    laundry, chiropody etc
  • Assisted bathing suites

What facilities should an ECS have, cont?
  • Communal areas including day rooms, catering and
    dining facilities offering café services
  • Guest room facilities
  • Good links to the local area
  • Staff on site, responsible for the building,
    management and coordination of care support
    services
  • They may also include
  • Respite or continuing care suites
  • Reception/helpdesk services
  • GP beds
  • GP surgery/treatment room
