- Hatchery strays from the Lostine
- supplementation program do not exceed
- more than 10 of the naturally spawning
- fish in any out-of-basin natural Chinook
- salmon population.

40Management Assumption

43 Summary Table
Juvenile Life History Hatchery smolt
diel movement is similar to that of natural
smolts. Hatchery smolts are larger than natural
smolts. Hatchery smolts emigrate within the
spring window of natural smolts. Hatchery
juveniles do not mimic the annual emigration
pattern of natural juveniles. Hatchery smolts
arrive at Lower Granite Dam earlier than natural
smolts
44 Summary Table
Adult Life History Hatchery adult
migration timing is similar to that of natural
adults. Hatchery adult sex ratios are similar to
natural adult sex ratios. Hatchery adults return
at an earlier age than natural adults creating
age structure differences. Hatchery females have
similar fecundity to natural females of equal
length.
45 Summary Table
Adult Distribution Lostine
hatchery fish have been located off the coast
Alaska, British Columbia and Washington. Lostine
hatchery strays are distributed in low numbers
throughout the Columbia Basin. Lostine hatchery
strays are well below the 10 limit in the two
Grande Ronde reference streams. Lostine Hatchery
adults are distributed on the spawning grounds
similar to natural adults.
