Iran Earthquake

• More than 20,000 people were killed at dawn
  yesterday when an earthquake virtually destroyed
  the ancient Iranian city of Bam. Government
  officials confirmed the figure and said that a
  further 50,000 people had been injured in the
  south-eastern city on the old Silk Road to China.
  The quake measured 6.3 on the Richter scale.
• Comment
• It was only last weekend when an earthquake of
  similar magnitude struck California. Again we are
  warned by Jesus that there will be earthquakes in
  diverse places. There can often be political
  implications when these things occur. God uses
  earthquakes and other dramatic events to bring
  about his purpose. We know Iran (Persia) will be
  involved in the final battle against Israel. Who
  knows what implications may come from this
  disaster.

• Ascending the steps of his Boeing 727 as he left
  Bam yesterday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei offered a
  regal wave to the exhausted Iranian Crescent
  workers. Some clapped and cheered, but it was
  clear that the earthquake had not only shaken the
  weak foundations of the ancient city, but had
  also caused echoes of discontent that could help
  destabilise the theocratic government.

• As we said last week, earthquakes can have
  tremendous consequences politically and we can
  see Gods hand working here. The Daily Telegraphs
  editorial said on the 3rd Jan, Earthquakes have
  a way of shaking the political landscape as well
  as the earths crust. We know that there is to
  be one great earthquake at the end which will
  itself usher in great political change. The long
  awaited kingdom.

• Iran rejected American earthquake diplomacy,
  yesterday, turning down Washingtons offer of a
  high-level humanitarian mission to the devastated
  city of Bam. The mission would have been led by
  Senator Elizabeth Dole and an unidentified member
  of the Bush family.

• And so very soon we see some political
  implications. Iran rejecting US diplomacy. Being
  anti US is more than popular in Iran and if, as
  the previous slide showed, there are grumblings
  of discontent with the Ayatollah then some
  hardline stance against the US would be more
  popular.

  would accept help from any country in the world

  what aides stressed was a "humanitarian" visit
  after a surprise visit to British troops in Iraq.
• Although officials at Clarence House said the
  trip was "totally non-political", it will
  inevitably be seen as a powerful signal of
  improving relations with Teheran's clerical
  regime, a member of America's reviled "axis of
  evil".

• It is remarkable that in recent weeks Britain has
  established relations with Libya and now Prince
  Charles visits Tehran. The first royal to visit
  since 1979. How do these things fit in with
  Bible prophecy. It perhaps goes some way to
  explaining the incredulous questions that the UK
  (Tarshish) and the young lions make when Israel
  is invaded. Why are you doing this?

  components for sophisticated uranium enrichment
  equipment that Iran failed to declare, deepening
  suspicions that Teheran is seeking an atomic
  bomb.
• The unravelling of the nuclear network operated
  by Abdul Oadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan's
  bomb, has exposed Iran to ever more damaging
  disclosures of its attempts to hide
  nuclear-related facilities.Weapons analysts claim
  that the medium range Shahab-3 missile could
  reach Israel or US bases in Gulf

• Iran (Persia) will be one of the nations that
  converges on Israel with Gog. There is increasing
  pressure from the US on Iran. The hardliners are
  expected to win next week in the elections taking
  place in Iran more on this next week. It is
  also interesting that we have seen a number of
  natural disasters in Iran recently with a
  major earthquake killing 1000s and this week the
  terrible train explosion possibly caused by a
  small earthquake. Gods hand is clearly working
  here in this nation.

• Islamic hardliners routed Iran's reformists
  yesterday as votes were counted in an election
  that had been rigged before the polls even
  opened, thanks to the mass ban on moderate
  candidates.
• The new conservative majority is expected to
  spell an end to President Mohammad Khatami's
  seven-year experiment in greater freedom of
  speech and loosening Islamic cultural and social
  restrictions - a drive that hardliners have tried
  to obstruct at every turn.

• So Iran, (ancient Persia) now has conservative
  hardliners back in power. Religious backed
  parties now control over 200 of 280 seats. As the
  article says, this spells the end of a 7 year
  experiment of freedom of speech etc. It is
  interesting that Russia had a 7 year experiment.
  It was called Glasnost which means openness. It
  became in effect pro west. That too has failed
  and it has been turned back. We now see
  Russias, Persian ally being turned back as
  well. We call them an ally as they will join
  Russia in invading Israel. The scene is being
  set!

• More than 200 Islamic students threw stones and
  tried to storm the British embassy compound in
  Teheran yesterday in protest over Iraq.
• The crowd, which chanted Death to America, death
  to Britain and death to Israel, was quickly
  dispersed by riot police but its leaders vowed to
  be back.
• One placard read We will protest here every day
  until the Abu Ghraib prisoners are freed.
• Comment
• There is a possible uprising beginning in Iran
  (ancient Persia). We see crowds on the street
  shouting death to America, Britain and Israel.
  The photos showing American troops abusing Iraqis
  appear to have driven these Islamic students to
  try and storm the British embassy. We know that
  Persia will join the EU beast and Gogian forces
  when Israel is invaded. The hatred shown publicly
  on the streets of Tehran will one day be shown
  publicly in the invasion of Israel.

• Iran issued a "formal warning" to the Bush
  administration yesterday as American military
  forces launched a major attack on the Iraqi holy
  cities of Najaf Kufa
• Rescue efforts have been going on through the
  night in Iran following a violent earthquake
  which shook much of the north of the country on
  Friday. About 30 people are reported to have been
  killed in towns and villages over a large area,
  its epicentre being in Mazandaran province by the
  Caspian Sea.
• Comment
• Iran (ancient Persia) has now issued a formal
  warning to the US. We know that Iran is involved
  with the Gogian host that comes to invade Israel.
  The most direct route would be through Iraq!
  Whether Iran goes through Iraq or not the fact is
  that Iran (and the other invaders of Israel)
  would technically be at war with the UK and US
  anyway. America would never willing let Israel be
  invaded. On top of these political tensions we
  also see natural tensions in the same area with
  earthquakes. ( in diverse places!) We have now

  television last night, showing
  three of the men blindfolded
  then two apologising for their "big
  mistake" in straying into
  Teheran's territorial waters. Whether
  Iran seized the British
  servicemen by accident or design yesterday, the
  action is likely to be seen as a sign of
  displeasure from the theocratic regime and its
  foot soldiers, the Revolutionary Guards.The
  Iranians were furious at Britains involvement in
  drafting last weeks resolution by the
  International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN
  nuclear watchdog, rebuking Teheran for covering
  up part of its nuclear operations.

• Though these men have now been released the very
  fact so much political capital was made from
  their capture is interesting. They were paraded
  blindfolded on a satellite channel. It was
  designed show show Irans power over coalition
  forces, who were portrayed as weak and bewildered
  in a foreign land. We know that Persia will be
  involved in the final onslaught of Israel we
  see how these tensions are developing.

• The new Iraqi government will publish damning
  evidence this week linking foreign powers,
  including Iran and Syria, to the Muslim
  extremists and loyalists of the former regime who
  launched a bloody rebellion after the fall of
  Saddam Hussein.
• Hoshyar Zebari, the foreign minister, told The
  Telegraph that the interim government had
  gathered intelligence detailing the support
  provided to insurgent groups by some neighbouring
  nations. The accusation that governments in
  Teheran and Damascus have been aiding the
  insurgents could create an immediate diplomatic
  crisis for the Baghdad administration that
  assumed power only last week.

• The growing tensions in the Middle East are
  evident. If Isaiah 13 describes the situation we
  see today with kingdoms of nations coming from
  afar to the land of Babylon (modern Iraq) which
  brings the destruction of the land it is this
  event that heralds (verse 6) The day of the
  Lord, when (verse 11) God will punish the world
  for their evil. We then read (verse 13) that God
  stirs up the Medes (modern Iran) against them. We
  see the headline above the Medes ARE being
  stirred .

• Iraq threatened military retaliation against Iran
  yesterday, accusing its former foe of backing
  terrorists who have begun to focus their campaign
  of violence on the interim government itself.
  Hazim al-Shaalan, the defence minister, denounced
  Iranian interference, saying that Teheran was
  supporting foreign Islamic militants fighting
  alongside remnants of the Saddam era to
  destabilise Iraq.
• "They confess to the presence of their spies in
  Iraq who have a mission to shake up the social
  and political situation," he said. "Iranian
  intrusion has been vast and unprecedented since
  the establishment of the Iraqi state."
• Comment
• The tensions increase between these ancient foes.
  Babylon and Persia. Saddam Hussein fought Iran
  during the 80s with the loss of hundreds of
  thousands of lives. He saw himself as a latter
  day Nebuchadnezzar whose role it was to launch a
  war against ancient Persia. We now see Iran
  asserting itself more and more in the area. Again
  something we expect. Iran will definitely play a
  role in the future invasion of Israel.

• Iran has broken the seals on nuclear equipment
  monitored by United Nations inspectors and is
  once again building and testing machines that
  could make fissile material for nuclear weapons.
• Teheran's move, revealed to The Daily Telegraph
  yesterday by western sources, breaks a deal with
  European countries under which Iran suspended
  "all uranium enrichment activity".
• It will also exacerbate fears that the regional
  power is determined to make an atomic bomb within
  a few years.
• Comment
• America is pushing for sanctions on Iran. Europe
  is trying desperately to coax Iran back into
  compliance. However commentators say that success
  is slim. Teheran now appears to have calculated
  that America is paralysed by the presidential
  elections and Europe is too divided. We watch
  these events with expectation knowing Iran will
  be involved perhaps to a greater extent than we
  thought.

• A shaky truce in the Shia-dominated south of Iraq
  collapsed yesterday as US marines fighting to
  regain control of the holy city of Najaf said
  they had killed 300 militants loyal to the
  firebrand cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.
• Scores more died in Shia strongholds in Baghdad
  and Basra as some of the worst clashes since the
  fall of Saddam Hussein continued for a second
  day.
• Comment
• To understand why the battle for Najaf maybe
  significant we need to understand the Shia
  religion. The Shia or Shiites make up 10-15 of
  all Muslims. The largest sect (85)being the
  Sunni Muslims. Shia Muslims live all over the
  world but the highest concentrations are Iran
  (90 Shia) and Iraq (60 Shia / 30 Sunni). Najaf
  is home to Shias most holy shrine which has been
  damaged during the fighting. Mr al-Sadr is
  calling on Muslims to take up arms to defend
  your holy places. Hence reports of 100s of
  Iranians coming over from Iran into Iraq to
  fight. They are fighting with those of the same
  faith. Perhaps we can see God stirring up Iran
  (Persia) into the war.

  ways to sabotage or delay Iran's nuclear weapons
  programme believing that diplomatic deals struck

  Teheran's rush towards the bomb.

  or delay as long as we can" the development of an
  Iranian bomb, one said. The urgency stems, in
  part, from "increasingly strong private
  statements" by Israeli counterparts that they may

• Note the comment Israel may be forced to take
  military action to stop Iran!! There is growing
  concern about Iran and its nuclear ambitions.
  Israel bombed Iraq in the 80s when they feared
  Saddam was building a nuclear bomb. The precedent
  has been set. We are watching growing tensions
  between Iran and the US and Israel. Iran is
  making bright arrows perhaps missiles. They
  are being raised up to attack.

  stakes in the the crisis over Irans nuclear
  programme, which Britain and America believe is
  aimed at making an atomic bomb.

• I had to read this twice to believe it! Iran
  actually asking for nuclear technology and
  information about nuclear weapons from Britain.
  It appears they want this because they fear
  attack from Israel. Iran has made a number of
  aggressive statements about Israel and its
  alleged intentions of striking Iran. Iran
  (Persia) will be involved in the final onslaught
  on Israel. We are seeing these things develop.

• Thousands of Iranians took to Tehran's streets
  after Friday prayers to protest what they call
  "atrocities" by US forces in the holy Iraqi city
  of Najaf. A smaller number of demonstrators later
  made their way to the British embassy, calling
  for its closure and for the expulsion of the
  British ambassador.
• The protests come at a time of growing tension
  between Iran and Iraq.
• Baghdad has made fresh allegations that Iran is
  aiding radical Iraqi Shia groups.

• As we said last week Iran is 95 Shia Muslim. The
  US is bombing and attacking Najaf which is home
  to the most holy Shia shrine. Iran is being
  stirred. Tensions are growing. Iran is angry over
  a kidnapping of an Iranian diplomat in Iraq this
  week. The Middle East is becoming an unstable
  place. It is effecting oil prices which have
  risen to new records this week. The time of
  trouble is coming.

• Iran warned America and Israel last night that is
  was ready to launch pre-emptive strikes to stop
  them attacking its nuclear facilities. Ali
  Shamkhani, the Iranian defence minister, said the
  presence of American forces in Iraq and
  Afghanistan was not a threat to Teheran. On the
  contrary, American soldiers were now hostages
  to Iran. On Monday Iran threatened to attack
  Israels nuclear reactor at Dimona if Israel
  tried to destroy Irans nuclear facilities as it
  did Saddam Husseins Osiraq nuclear reactor in
  1981 often held up as the model for effective
  pre-emptive action.

• I am amazed how little this has been reported in
  the news in general. Perhaps people do not take
  these threats from Iran seriously. But I believe
  with Bible in hand we should. We know from the
  scriptures that Iran WILL be involved in the war
  against. Israel. There are also passages that
  indicate Iran (Medes / Persians) will be stirred
  up.

  the ability to build atomic weapons this month
  when it finishes large-scale "testing" of a
  process to make fissile material, nuclear experts
  reported yesterday.
• Teheran's decision to press ahead with a plant to
  make uranium hexafluoride , a gas used to make
  enriched uranium, will deepen suspicions in the
  West about Iran's supposedly "peaceful" nuclear
  programme.
• Comment
• Iran see the 5 month window between now and the
  swearing in of the next US president as an
  opportunity to press ahead with their nuclear
  weapons program. They believe the US will not act
  until after the elections. Commentators say that
  Iran is trying to become the new superpower in
  the Middle East. Isaiah 13 talks of nations
  coming from afar to Babylon (modern Iraq) and
  destroying it. Verses 6-11 talk of the great day
  of the Lord and the punishment of the whole
  world. We then read in verse 17 that the Medes
  are stirred up. These things are taking place
  before our eyes.

• Israel admitted yesterday that it is buying 500
  "bunker-buster" bombs,
  which could be used to hit Irans nuclear
  facilities, as Teheran
  paraded ballistic missiles as a warning against
  attack.
• Teheran has vowed to retaliate against any
  attack, and at one point
  said it might launch pre-emptive strikes
  if it felt threatened.
• Seeking to underline the point, Iran showed off
  its ballistic missiles at an annual military
  parade in Teheran near the mausoleum of Iran's
  revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Khomeini. A
  banner proclaiming "Israel must be wiped off the
  map" was draped on the side of a 450-mile
  Shahab-2 missile.

• Iran (ancient Persia) is being stirred up. The
  Bible makes very clear that when nations descend
  on Iraq (ancient Babylon) that this nation will
  be raised up. It also makes clear that Babylon
  will be destroyed as when God destroyed Sodom and
  Gomorrah. It is a fact that the original Babylon
  was never destroyed in that way (in fire and
  brimstone), however these words may well come

• Iran has taken control of many Palestinian
  terrorist cells from Yasser Arafat's Fatah
  movement, giving them funds and orders to attack
  Israeli targets, and even rewarding successful
  missions with "bonuses", according to a senior
  Israeli security source.
• For many years, Iran has given money and
  ideological support to radical Palestinian
  groups, especially Hamas and Islamic Jihad,
  responsible for most of the Israeli deaths in the
  past four years of the Palestinian uprising.
• But Israel believes that much of the Fatah armed
  faction, calling itself the Al-Aqsa Martyrs'
  Brigades, has now come under Iran's sway,
  especially in the West Bank.

• We see here, Iran, (ancient Persia and arch enemy
  of Israel) influencing and fanning the flames of
  the Palestinian uprising. Before the removal of
  Saddam Hussein it was Iraq that was accused of
  doing this. One third of the 98 Israelis killed
  so far this year are believed to have been
  orchestrated by the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.
  Hezbollah is the finger of Irans hand one
  Israeli source said. The tension between these
  two countries is escalating dramatically at this
  time. We should watch Iran closely.

• Iran is playing a game of brinkmanship with the
  world over its production of uranium. Europe is
  desperately trying to get a deal where Iran stops
  this production. However it appears that even
  though they agree to stop, Iran continues in
  secret. This ancient area of the Medes is being
  stirred up following the war on the ancient area
  of Babylon. Americas troops are still too tied
  up in Iraq to launch any new war and Iran knows
  this and is exploiting the situation. We should
  watch this area closely.

• US President George W Bush has warned Iran and
  Syria not to interfere in Iraq in advance of next
  month's elections. Mr Bush said he expected all
  of Iraq's neighbours, including Iran and Syria,
  to stop what he said was the flow of people and
  money into Iraq.
• The influx was aimed at helping terrorists, he
  said.
• His comments came on the first day of the
  election campaign, as at least seven people were
  killed and 30 injured by a bomb in the holy city
  of Karbala.

• More warnings to Iran and Syria from the US.
  Continuing violence and bloodshed in Iraq. Bush
  also this week branded Tehran the "most
  dangerous enemy of Iraq". However talk is about
  all the US can do at the moment. It cannot afford
  or stomach another conflict with another major
  nation at this time. Iran knows this and
  continues to take advantage of the situation.
  Persia is involved in the final onslaught of
  Israel. We might therefore expect Iran to escape
  attack from the US.
