    through increasing sustainable economic growth

    (LG) relationship why?
  • Deliver benefits for the people of Scotland
  • Implementation of key manifesto commitments
  • Devolution of authority from national to local
    government

Concordat between SG and CoSLA
  • New relationship between Scottish Government and
    local government based on mutual respect and
    partnership
  • Recognises LGs contribution to SGs Strategic
    Objectives and the successful delivery of
    national outcomes
  • SG will set the direction of policy and the
    over-arching outcomes and stand back from
    micro-managing service delivery
  • LG will have less bureaucracy and will be free to
    meet the varying local needs and circumstances
    across Scotland
