Ranch
  • Long and low one story house. Low pitched roof,
    picture windows with an enclosed patios in the
    rear.

Colonial
  • Styles originated from Georgian, saltbox and Cap
    Cod. The door is very noticeable and decorative,
    also supported by pilasters. They typically
    extend forward, this house for the most part is
    symmetrical especially with windows.

Victorian
  • Very elaborately detailed, style was taken from
    medieval/ renaissance period. Very popular during
    the Victorian period.

Queen Ann
  • Steep roof, with ornamental gables over lapping
    decorative shingles for siding, with a wrap
    around porch. It also has columns and railings,
    some have a circular tower that extends the
    entire height of the building.

Bungalow / Craftsmen

 



  • A small one story house with an overhanging roof
    and covered porch. A low pitched roof, decorative
    beams or braces under the eaves. And a full or
    partial-width the roof supported by columns or
    pedestals.

Greek Revival
  • Two story rectangular house with symmetrically
    placed windows. A gable roof emphasized by wide
    trim at the cornice. Pilasters on the corners of
    frame houses or across the whole front.
    Elaborated entrance. Columns supporting a small
    or large porch.

  • 2 story house. Symmetrical simple rectangular
    design with central chimney and a pitched roof

  • Emphasize function or usefulness. Combines simple
    geometric shapes to create an asymmetrical design
    that resembles a piece of sculpture.

  • Very wide eaves that hang over. Low roof, shows
    support beams. It also has an unusual placement
    of windows. It is supposed to look like it is
    natural.

    times.
