GENERAL
  • Youths may be granted membership of a Cadet Force
    Unit according to the Following Conditions
  • Open to both Male and Female
  • The enrolment of a young woman into a cadet unit
    is not dependant on there being a female Cadet
    Forces Officer in the Unit, or vice versa

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
  • Restricted to youths who are
  • Not less than 13 years of age or attending
    Secondary School
  • Not more than 15 years of age
  • Enrolment of Physically disadvantaged young
    persons is at the discretion of the Cadet Unit
    Commander

TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP
  • Provided there is a vacancy within the Unit
    establishment a Cadet may
  • Serve to age of 18 years
  • Be permitted to serve to the age of 20 years at
    the discretion of the Unit Commander provided
    that he or she is
  • A Cadet NCO and held against a vacancy in Unit
    Establishment and
  • Employed in the Cadet Unit on Administrative or
    Instructional duties
  • As a Master Cadet/Cadet Under Officer be
    permitted to serve until the age of 21 years at
    the discretion of the Unit Commander
  • Continue to serve in an Administrative capacity
    on a year to year basis beyond the age of 21
    years with the concurrence of the AC CFTSU

  • Ranks
  • Qualifications for promotion to LCDT
  • Acquaintance with orders
  • Discipline
  • Attendance at recognised activities
  • Termination of membership

RANKS

SCC LCDT Promotion Requirements
  • Attained the age of 15 years
  • Passed the Sea Cadet swimming test
  • Successfully completed the Leading Cadet
    promotion course as an Able Cadet
  • Hold Seamanship Class II

Acquaintance with Orders
  • Cadets are to acqaint themselves with all orders
    and insrtructions as are necessary for the
    performance of their duties in their corps and
    unit

DISCIPLINE
  • No Cadet can discipline a Cadet by the award of
    punishments
  • Cadets attending authorised activities who commit
    a serious breach of the code of conduct can be
    sent home

Attendance of Recognised Activites
  • A Cadet must inform the Unit of non-attendance at
    routine parades
  • If cadet fails to appear at a parade which they
    have stated they will be attending, the unit is
    to take immediate steps to inform the parent or
    guardian of their non-attendance

Termination of Membership
  • A Cadet who wishes to leave a unit is to advise
    the CUCDR stating their reasons
  • A CUCDR is to discharge a cadet who has failed to
    attend three consecutive parades without
    satisfactory explanation
  • A CUCDR may discharge a Cadet for serious
    offences against the Code of Conduct
  • A Cadet must return their uniform and any
    equipment before they can be formally discharged

TRANSFERS
  • Cadets wishing to transfer to another unit are
    to
  • Inform the CUCDR of their intention to transfer
  • Resign from current unit and return all loan
    items, including uniform
  • Be provided with a reference letter
  • Rank will be at the discretion of the receiving
    CUCDR
