Irish famine emigrant family sculptures beside
The Custom House in Dublin city center. The
emigrant statues are in memory of the native
Irish who were forced into emigration during the
1840s Irish famine years. The departure point
with their few possessions was the nearby Dublin
Docks, from where the steam boats to Liverpool
departed. From there, many travelled on to New
York to seek a new beginning in the United States

The Garden of Remembrance is an Irish memorial
garden, created in Dublin to commemorate all
those killed in the Anglo-Irish War (also known
as the Irish War of Independence) between 1919
and 1922. It also commemorates those who died in
other conflicts in the struggle for Irish
freedom, notably The Garden of Remembrance was
opened in 1966 by President de Valera on the
fiftieth anniversary of the Easter Rising. It is
in the form of a sunken cruciform water-feature.
It is located in the northern fifth of the
original park in the centre of Parnell Square
(formerly Ruthland Square), a Georgian square on
the northside of Dublin.

Memorial to those who were killed in Claudy,
County Derry, on Monday 31 July 1972. The Irish
Republican Army (IRA) exploded three bombs
killing 9 civilians. The bronze figure is the
part of the memorial which includes a number of
plaques.

CARLISLE SQUARE SCULPTURE This sculpture,
situated at the Cityside end of Craigavon Bridge
and unveiled in July 1992, shows two men reaching
out to each other. It represents friendship and
reconciliation and is the artistic embodiment of
the 'hands across the divide aspiration.
