- AMRCC launched in early FY99 from an IBC
Executive Technical Committees recommendation to
the IBC - Initial Board David Strohl (HON), Greg Jordan
(Maytag), Larry Burkholder (Deere), Jack Harris
(Rockwell Collins), John Howard (Vermeer), John
Mitchell (Pella Corp), Bob Tibor (State of Iowa
Tech Advisor), Jim Melsa (ISU), Barry Butler (U
of Iowa), Bart Bergquist (UNI), Myrt Levin (IBC) - CEOs of participating companies were very
supportive and committed to the launch - Several meetings a year occurred, including Board
meetings - Each year AMRCC held a facilitated strategic
planning session with invited speakers - Sponsored the first Advanced Manufacturing
Conference at ISU in 2000 - First technology transfer project was Rapid
Prototyping

- East Marshall High School has a system and
documented success over 3 years - 8 Systems are being donated and installed in
selected Iowa High Schools - Established a Users group to accelerate high
schools use - Pathfinder has been briefed at the state and
national levels - Leveraging Iowa State Universitys and Mechdyne
Corporation expertise - Received support from the state of Iowa to
maintain hardware and technology - 250K - Partnerships with software suppliers to provide
low to no cost - Seed funding being sought for scholarships in
Advanced Manufacturing Administered through
IBC/AMRCC

14Expanding AMRCCs Role to Support the Iowa
Innovation Council (IIC)
15AMRCCs Expanded Role
- Individual targeted industry groups are being
used to support the proposed Iowa Innovation
Council (IIC) - Iowa Advanced Manufacturing Council has been
dissolved with those responsibilities being
transitioned to AMRCC - IIC, if enacted, will be through Governors
legislative language and will occur in early in
calendar year 2010 - If not enacted, the function will still be
assumed under IDED - Technology Commercialization Committee (TCC) will
remain in tact, performing due diligence and
providing recommendations against proposals
submitted against IDED funding - Bio Science Alliance and the Technology
Association of Iowa will act as the other
targeted industry working groups - Consolidated Education/Workforce Working Group
will also remain

entrepreneurial capacity to foster economic
growth and to speed transition of Iowa to the new
knowledge-based economy
- Create and communicate to IDED the Iowa economic
strategic growth plan - Pursue manufacturing and technology driven
