The International Brain Research Organization
(IBRO) was founded in 1960. IBRO is dedicated
to the promotion of neuroscience and of
communication between researchers in all
countries of the world. In 1976 IBRO was given
Associate Status in the International Council of
Scientific Unions (ICSU) which is part of UNESCO.

IBRO NEUROSCIENCE PROGRAMMES NETWORK (NPN)
The NPN is a compilation of neuroscience
training programmes operating worldwide,
including PhD, MSc, BSc, undergraduate and other
relevant levels
It aims to help define and make better known
training possibilities worldwide
It provides on the IBRO website a listing of
neuroscience training programmes operating
worldwide, but targets training institutions not
encompassed by ANDP (Association of Neuroscience
Departments and Programs) in North America and
NENS (Network of European Neuroscience Schools)
Although not intended as a funding organisation,
NPN may be useful in pointing out possible links
between training programmes and relevant funding
resources

works in close association with the IBRO
Regional Committees and Affiliated Organizations
collaborates actively with ANDP and NENS
advises and assists colleagues and institutions
wanting to organise training programmes

• includes all forms of neuroscience training
  endeavours, bearing in mind that some
  institutions do not provide a final degree

for inclusion in the NPN
Title of the programme with the name of the
institution and the city and country of origin,
and the address of the relevant contact person
Website address (if currently established)
Degree awarded by the programme (i.e. PhD, MSc,
BSc or other) if relevant. Note that it is NOT
essential for a degree to be awarded to qualify
for inclusion in the Network.

Qualification requirements for admission of
potential students

Additional information could include

• the number of teachers involved in each
  programme
• the number of students in each programme
• the availability, and requirements of
  scholarships for local and overseas students

National societies and associations, and
individual institutions, are free to provide
additional information about programmes as they
become available, and modify their entries It is
most important that institutions should plan to
keep this information up-to-date, and inform NPN
of all changes to their programmes
