MISSION

• EHO supports ecumenical cooperation, diaconal
  work, social development, and emergency responses
  to basic human needs. The activities of EHO will
  contribute to personal growth, economic
  independence, human dignity, and improved
  self-esteem among the socially vulnerable
  population of Vojvodina

• During the 90s NGOs are considered
  anti-government and its work was treated almost
  as subversion of the state
• In 1999 situation was changed
• The draft Act of the NGOs was prepared in 2002
  but it never really reached The Parliament..
• Ministry for Public Administration and Local
  Self-Government with cooperation with BFS of NGOs
• There is no adequate law on NGOs
• The law on religious communities is also very
  selective
• Church-related coping with post-war (1945-90)
  inheritance
• Founded by the minority churches

  working group for passing law on voluntary work,
  which is extending support and assistance (also
  in financial terms) for regulation of legal
  status of volunteers in Serbia.

  financially supported volunteers on 2005 in
  amount of 500

The Republic of Serbia(Social Innovation Fund
reform program (SIF)

• Established by Ministry of Labour, Employment and
  Social Policy in 2002 as a mechanism for reforms
  in social welfare sector
• Contributes to the social policy reforms in
  Serbia, by providing funds to public,
  nongovernmental and business sector
• Its objectives are to place local level
  initiatives at the heart of social welfare
  reforms and to strengthen local capacities and
  partnership
• Proposed services ought to be innovative as in
  relation to the existing practice and develop
  partnership between the public and NGO sectors.
• The work of SIF is supported by Goverment of the
  Kingdom of Norway, EU European Agency for
  Reconstruction EAR, United Nation Development
  Program (UNDP), United nations Office for Project
  Services (UNOPS), and the budget of the Republic
  of Serbia.

The Social Welfare Center EHO The Executive
Board of Novi Sad City Council

• The Centre for volunteers
• The Novi Sad Social Welfare Center (NS-SWC) has
  initiated a project where EHO is authorized to
  establish a volunteer service for them
• Volunteer service requires for NS-SWC services
  Safe House, Shelter for Homeless and Daycare
  Center
• EHO shall train 30 volunteers
• Project duration 11 months
• Amount of SIF grant 21000
