Title: Dunnage What is Dunnage and what are the rules

Dunnage What is Dunnage and what are the rules?
  • October 11, 2007

Dunnage
  • Dunnage is solid wood used to brace shipments in
transit. It is not considered part of the package
or the commodity and must be separately marked.
    The marking is D-HT.
  • It is stated, that when the shipment is removed
from the container, what remains on the floor of
    the container is DUNNAGE.

3
  • Each piece of dunnage should be marked on two
    sides.
  • Most countries require dunnage to be stamped on
    two opposite sides.
  • Where do customers purchase DUNNAGE?
  • In all cases, a CWPCP/CHTWPCP member MUST supply
dunnage in long lengths with multiple markings.
In this way there is a reasonable chance the cut
piece will retain at least some of the D-HT marks
    on opposite sides.
