The Moons Orbit

• The Moon revolves around Earth and rotates on its
  axis.
• Its orbit is a flattened circle or oval-shape.

Moon Phases

• The moon goes through its whole set of phases
  each time it revolves around Earth (once a
  month).
• Phases are caused by changes in the relative
  positions of the moon, Earth, and the sun.

• The sun lights the moon, so half of the moon is
  almost always in sunlight.
• However, since the moon revolves around the
  earth, you see the moon from different angles.

What Causes Tides?

• The force of gravity pulls the moon and Earth
  (including the water on Earths surface) toward
  each other.
• Tides occur mainly because of differenced in how
  much the moon pulls on different parts of Earth.
