Buddhism is like Hinduism

• They both teach Karma cause and effect ethics
• They both teach Maya the illusory nature of the
  world
• They both teach Samsara The Cycle of
  reincarnation
• Buddhists believe that the ultimate Goal in life
  is to achieve enlightenment as they perceive
  it.

What did Gautama discover?

• Enlightenment does not lie in luxurious
  indulgence or self-mortification
• He also discovered the Four Noble Truths
• To live is to suffer (Dukha)
• Suffering is caused by desire (Tenha, or
  attachment)
• One can eliminate suffering be eliminating all
  attachments
• This is achieved by following the Eightfold Path

Buddha

• He didnt consider himself to be a God or a
  Divine being, but a way-shower for others.
• After his death he was exalted to God-status by
  some of his followers, but not all of his
  followers viewed him this way
• In the bible, Jesus is validated as the Son of
  God and one with the father
• Matthew 317 This is my Son, in whom I love
  with him I am well pleased
• John 1030 I am the father are one

Sin in Buddhism

• Sin is largely understood to be ignorance
• While sin is understood as moral error, the
  context in which evil and good are understood
  a dishonorable.
• Karma is understood as natures balance and is
  not personally enforced
• Nature is not moral
• Karma is not a moral Code
• Sin is not ultimately immoral

Karma

• It is the idea that how you live your life will
  determine the quality of life you will have after
  reincarnation
• If you are unselfish, kind, and holy during this
  lifetime, you will be rewarded by being
  reincarnated into a pleasant life
• If you are selfish and evil, you will be
  reincarnated into a less-than pleasant lifestyle
• In other words, you reap in the next life what
  you sow in this one

Karma

• The bible talks about reaping and sowing
• Job 48 As I have observed, those who plow evil
  and those who sow trouble will reap it
• Psalm 1265 Those who sow in tears will reap
  with songs of joy
• Luke 1224 Consider the ravens They do not sow
  or reap, they have no storeroom or barn yet God
  feeds them. And how much more valuable you are
  than birds!
• The act of receiving the rewards or your actions
  take place in this life
• The choice to be a Christian or not with be
  rewarded in the life after death

Karma

• The afterlife is not a rebirth or a reincarnation
  into another body here on earth
• It is Either
• Eternal Suffering in Hell Matthew 2546 Then
  they will go away to eternal punishment, but the
  righteous to eternal life
• Eternal Life in heaven Galatians 68-9 The one
  who sows to please his sinful nature, form that
  nature will reap destruction the one who sows to
  please the Spirit, form that Spirit will reap
  eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing
  good, for at the proper time we will reap a
  harvest if we do not give up.

Reincarnation

• Rebirth, like other cults, teaches salvation by
  works
• One must atone for his own sins throughout
  successive rebirths
• The bible teaches that God decreed that our sins
  can be atoned for only in the person of his son
  on the cross After he had provided purification
  for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the
  Majesty in heaven (Hebrews 13)
• Man couldnt atone for his sins Romans 310-12
  There is no one righteous, not even one there
  is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.
  All have turned away, they have together become
  worthless there is no one who does good, not
  even one.? Their throats are open graves their
  tongues practice deceit.? The poison of vipers
  is on their lips.

Reincarnation

• The bible rejects the idea of reincarnation
• Hebrews 927 Just as man is destined to die
  once, and after that to face judgment
• We are destined to die once
• After judgment we face death
• You get one shot and one shot only
• The bible teaches that man is not eternal
• He is a creation from God
• Psalm 13913 - For you created my inmost being
  you knit me together in my mothers womb.
• Genesis 126-27 So God said, Let us create man
  in our imageSo God created man in his own image,
  male and female he created them.
