King Shaka
King Shaka was a fierce Zulu king who loved
doing war. He had became the king in 1849 and
many people were very happy about it because his
Father named King Panda was a very good king so
they expected Shaka to be very good. King Shaka
invented a long dagger named, The Assagai.
while all the other tribes used spears. His
Battle strategie was that he attacked the little
groups first and he gave them the choice to die
or join his group. Most of them decided to join.
The Zulu tribe loved Shaka so much that they have
a holiday of him.

Geography and Religion
The Zulus live in the east part of South Africa
next to the ocean. They live in a province named
Kwa-zulu Natal. There are 7million members today
of the Zulu. They arent very rich these days.
Their jobs usually are farmers and miners. They
speak Bantu, English, and African. Their
religion is catholic now that they were conquered
by the British, but some of them still keep their
old religion which they believe in many gods.
They have holidays of wars that have won and a
holiday on King Shaka.

History and War
The Zulu tribe became a tribe more than 2
thousand years ago in South Africa. Theyve had
kings (like king Shaka and Panda from 1823
to1852). The tribe had many wars against other
tribes in the early 1800s they had a war against
the Xhosa tribe for a river which gave them water
to drink and for transportation. In 1849, the
British had a huge war which the Zulu won, but
the next war the British won and conquered them.

Culture
The Zulus make their houses in cone shaped
tops. Women who get married wear a hat that looks
like a cone. They live in urban places now that
the British conquered them. But some of them live
in rural places. They arent very wealthy because
most of their jobs are mining and farming.
