31Advanced Diamond Application Method from
DyStar A.D.A.M. A procedure to avoid direct
contact with Cr6-compound during transportation,
storage and application of mordant dyes
32A.D.A.M. - An Advanced Diamond Application Method
Current situation
- Diamond (mordant dyes) are known for
- Highest processing and end-user fastness
- Excellent levelness of dyeings
- Easy application on all wool qualities
- However mordant dyes are coming under ecological
pressure because - of the use of hexavalent chromium compound
(potassium dichromate) - Cr6 compounds are allergenic, carcinogenic,
mutagenic - The application has to be combined with a special
supervision by the healthand safety
authorities. - The government is demanding excessive
examinations for workers handling Cr6
DyStar has developed a new process to overcome
these limitations
33A.D.A.M. - An Advanced Diamond Application Method
The new method
- DyStar's new process does avoid direct contact
with Cr6-compounds - during transportation, storage and application of
mordant dyes. - A higher degree of legal certainty in relation to
the longer inspection intervalaccording to EU
regulations is possible - Specially equipped storage places for highly
hazardous substances are avoided - The long term survival of a well proven dyestuff
range like Diamond is possible - The mordant dyes reach the same
human-toxicological level as metal complex dyes
A process patent for the new application method
has been filed. Successful production trials with
the new process in combination with Diamond
dyes have been carried out at Tintoria
Specializzata di Sandigliano.
