XM109
25MM PAYLOAD RIFLE
Providing Light Fighters with AP lethality out to
2000 meters, the Barrett XM109 25MM Payload rifle
allows soldiers to engage and mitigate enemy
light armor cost effectively. Like the M107 .50
caliber LRSR the XM109 has accuracy, lethality
and legendary Barrett reliability. The XM109 is
destined to continue the Barrett contribution to
the war fighting assets of the military arsenal.

CURRENT SITREP

• The Barrett XM109 25mm Payload Rifle is a
  modification to the current issue Barrett M107,
  .50 caliber Long Range Sniper Rifle
• High parts commonality
• Most replacement parts are already in the
  logistic system
• Same approximate weight of 33 pounds
• 10 inches shorter at 46 inches
• Capable of defeating most light armor and
  material targets out to 2000 meters

CURRENT SITREP

• XM109 being refined under contract to reduce
  recoil and enhance performance
• On track to field ten (10) prototype weapon
  systems August 2004
• Weapon system will include the Barrett Optical
  Ranging Sight system (BORS)
• Ammunition will be available in both TP and AP

• Provide the Light Fighter with light weight
  anti-armor and anti-material capability
• Minimum re-training for armorer
• Current tests indicate in excess of 1 ½ inch
  penetration of armor at 500 meters
• Current tests indicate high accuracy
• With Barrett Digital Ranging Optical Sight
  accuracy to engage vehicular targets out to 2000
  meters

• Breeching capabilities on fortified doors,
  windows and walls without exposing soldier to
  enemy fire
• Future potential of ammunition development for
  riot and crowd control and less lethal
  applications ( rubber projectile, chemical agent,
  marking)
• Soft mount available for watercraft, aircraft,
  and vehicles

XM109 CAPABILITIES

• Will accept full range of other sighting systems
  (conventional scope, night vision, thermal, red
  dot)
• System capable of quick modification(6 months)
  for OCSW air burst ammunition. On board computer
  of BORS has capability to provide targeting
  information.
• XM109 with BORS could be in full rate production
  in 90 days from ARO pending limited safety
  release in August 2004.

• Based on the recent proven M107 battlefield
  performance the Barrett operating system has been
  shown to be one of the most reliable weapons in
  the sand, mud, dirt and harsh field conditions
  experienced by our troops in Bosnia, Somalia,
  Afghanistan, and Iraq. The XM109 shares the user
  friendly features and battle field reliability of
  the M107.
