4Application Cycle Timeline
August 1, 2012 (12 noon ET) Registration begins for programs and applicants.
October 10, 2012 (12 noon ET) Rank order list submission begins for programs and applicants.
November 7, 2012 (1159 p.m. ET) Quota change deadline. Programs must submit final information on quotas and withdrawals.
November 14, 2012 (900 p.m. ET) Deadline for registration and ROL certification.Applicants and programs must certify their rank order list by this date and time.
December 5, 2012 (12 noon ET) Match Day Filled and Unfilled results for individual programs posted to the Web. Matched and Unmatched information on applicants posted to the Web. Locations of all unfilled positions are released to applicants. Unmatched applicants may begin contacting unfilled programs.
December 6, 2012 Programs begin sending letters of appointment to matched applicants who then must sign and return the letters of appointment.

- Should be more function than style
- What have you done
- What do you want to do
- Why this subspecialty
- Why this program
- Have someone proofread
- Preferably faculty who read them
- Spell check!
16Photograph
- Programs use your photograph to identify you when
you arrive for an interview, and as a memory aid
when creating a rank list. - Keep it plain and professional (not artistic)
- Make sure it looks like you!
17LoRs
- 3 letters PD/Chair letter (can submit more)
- Specialty to which you are applying
- Medicine faculty who know you well
- Clinical performance as well as research
- Always waive the right to see the letter (using
the EFDO cover sheet) - Allow time, give constant reminder
- On July 1st, print out DSF and LOR cover sheet to
give to your letter writers

- You may register at MyERAS as soon as you have
received your token, but no earlier than July
1st (www.aamc.org/eras). There are 13 steps in
the MyERAS processStep 1 Research programs and
contact them for information.Step 2 Get your
ERAS Fellowships token and User Guide.Step
3 Register with MyERAS online.Step 4 Create
your Profile.Step 5 Create your MyERAS
Application.Step 6 Create your personal
statement and request supporting documents.Step
7 Select programs.Step 8 Assign documents to
programs.Step 9 Certify and transmit your
application.Step 10 Check the status of your
application using the Applicant Document Tracking
System (ADTS) and monitor the Message Center for
information from programs.Step 11 Select and
apply to new programs, update your documents, and
