Azadirachta Indica
In India, neem is known as the village pharmacy
because of its healing versatility, and it has
been used in Ayurvedic medicine for more than
4,000 years due to its medicinal properties. The
seeds, bark and leaves contain compounds with
proven antiseptic, antiviral, antipyretic,
anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer and antifungal uses.

Mustard
  • Brown mustard has been used for centuries as a
    medicine to treat conditions ranging from simple
    toothaches to severe convulsions in small
    children. References to mustard as a medicine
    typically mean brown mustard. Such medicine is
    typically extracted from its leaves and seeds. In
    antiquity, the Greeks valued the medicinal
    properties of mustard so highly that they
    considered it a gift to mankind, created by
    Asciepious, the god of healing.
  • The most common use of mustard as a medicine is
    external as a liniment, poultice, or plaster.
    Mustard oil, by mildly irritating the skin,
    stimulates circulation, which relieves muscle
    pain. Mustard poultices have been attributed to
    relieving certain cases of bronchitis and
    pleurisy.

Peepal Tree A Tree of Great UseThe peepal tree
is used for a number of Ayurvedic medicinal
purposes. They are as follows Raw juice of the
peepal plant leaf is very effective in arresting
excessive bleeding.50 ml of juice or 1 tbsp of
dry leaf powder taken with water, can work
wonders towards this cause. This recipe when
consumed with equal quantity of tender leaves,
coriander leaves and sugar can act against
dysentery. Peepal leaves are also used for the
treatment of mumps and boils. The leaf daubed in
ghee or butter can be bandaged lukewarm over the
affected part. A popular remedy for excessive
urination in jaundice patients is soaking a piece
of peepal bark in water overnight and consuming
the water the following morning. Juice extracted
from peepal leaves and held close to fire, can be
used as ear drops. The leaves are effective
against many heart diseases. For this, soak the
leaves overnight in water, distill the next
morning and then store. About 15 mg of this
solution, can be administered thrice daily. It is
known to be effective in the treatment of heart
palpitation and cardiac weakness.

  • Juice from the root bark is effective against
    gout and stomatitis, heals ulcers and enhances
    granulations. Chewing of roots of this tree, is
    known to prevent gum disease. Peepal is an
    excellent remedy for the neck disease scrofula,
    that causes swollen lymphatic glands. A paste
    prepared by mashing its roots under water, is
    applied on the affected region of the neck.
    Peepal leaves have been used against bruises and
    wounds for years. Finely ground leaves mixed with
    jaggery are made into pills. One pill taken daily
    with milk, is an effective pain killer. The
    peepal fruit is also useful in treatment.
    Powdered dried fig fruit is extremely beneficial
    against asthma.

  • Peepal tree has the great importance in India
    especially among the Buddhist who regard Peepal
    tree as the personification of Buddha. Lord
    Buddha attained enlightenment mediating under the
    Peepal tree. It is regarded as the sacred tree
    and the people uses its leaves for the religious
    purposes. According to the Buddha 'He who
    worships the Peepal tree will receive the same
    reward as if he worshiped me in person'. The
    Peepal tree has its own symbolic meaning of
    Enlightenment and peace. People tie threads of
    white, red and yellow silk around it to pray for
    progeny and rewarding parenthood. Hindus in India
    holds the great spiritual regard for the Peepal
    Tree. They regard it as the tree beneath where
    Lord Vishnu was born.

    far as the Charhaka Samhita, one of the oldest
    surviving medical texts of ancient India. Tulsi
    occupies a very sacred place in the Hindu
