• Born out of VHA (Vegetarian Housing Association)
• VHA operated retirement homes for older
  vegetarians vegans
• Model no longer viable
• Residents re-housed and homes closed
• Funds available to help older vegetarians and
  vegans

• Published Catering for older vegetarians and
  vegans a 32 page guide
• Aimed at care homes, retirement schemes and
  others catering for older people
• Includes Recipes, Menu Planners and lots of
  practical advice
• Distributed to 14,000 care homes across UK

• Established VfL-UK List - of care homes and other
  caterers - who agree to follow the VfL Code of
  Good Practice - and cater ethically for older
  vegetarians
• Membership reached 100 around launch
• Now 221 members across England, Scotland, Wales
  Northern Ireland

• And we are working continuously to increase our

• Christmas Leaflet with Rose Eliott recipes
• Catering guide for hospitals and hospices
• Presentation to Hospital Caterers Association in
  January 2009
• Working with WRVS to develop their new private
  catering to replace meals on wheels
