Why become a FRT trainer for the DFSRH and Loc
IUT/SDI
  • Keeping up to date
  • Facilitating training ( tutorials can be dual
    purpose)
  • Mutually beneficial for you and the trainee
  • Keeps costs down for your trainee
  • A FRT can also be approved to sign off ACPs
    (Assessment of Clinical Practice) for other
    trainees
  • Diplomatosis
  • Public Health

How to become a FRT
  • Current DFSRH or MFSRH (gt12 /12) or FFSRH
  • Current LoC SDI or LoC IUT if intending to work
    as a Trainer for these qualifications
  • Be actively involved clinically in SRH
  • Be recommended by a GenTPD
  • Have relevant accreditation or qualification
    medical education -
  • - hold a current LoC MEd
  • - be a Deanery approved trainer in Primary Care
  • - be a Royal College accredited medical
    trainer/educator

How to become a FRT cont.....
  • be knowledgeable about the syllabus, regulations
    and logbook of relevant Faculty qualifications..
  • undergo a satisfactory structured interview with
    a Senior Faculty Assessor (GT) nominated by the
    Deanery Advisor, who will complete the
    appropriate Form E4.
  • Submit the completed Form E4 to the Faculty
    within 3 months of completion

DFSRH
  • Tutorials can be used as ACPs (Assessment of
    Clinical Practice) if observing consultations
  • A Faculty Registered trainer can also complete
    RDCPs (Reflection and Discussion of Clinical
    Practice)
  • An Assessor can complete 2 ACPs

Why become an Assessor
  • An assessor who is not a Faculty Registered
    Trainer must be approved by the primary trainer.
    The individual should be known to the primary
    trainer
  • Acceptance as an assessor for one particular
    assessment for one trainee does not imply
    recognition in any other circumstances without
    prior approval of the primary trainer

  • Need to have up to date certificates to train for
    Loc IUT/SDI
  • Loc SDI - Completion of e-SRH module 17

Conclusions
  • The survey shows that there is a willingness for
    GP trainers/eductators to be trainers for the
    DFSRH and Loc IUT/SDI
  • This could resolve many waiting lists and other
    barriers if more trainers became FRTs
  • Helping trainees complete the DFSRH and Loc
    SDI/IUT
  • This presentation summarises and simplifies the
    process of how to become a FRT and the advantages
    of doing so
