2Ganesh Chaturthi
This is one of the most popular Hindu festival.
It is celebrated to honour Lord Ganesha. He is
the symbol of wisdom. Many cultural events are
organised during this event. This 10 day event is
ended by immersing the statues of this great
idol into the sea or river water. This
Immersion ceremony is accompanied by huge
processions.
3 Diwali, the festival of lights, is an
occasion for the invocation of the Gods of
prosperity and plenty. It is celebrated with
great pomp and splendor all across the India.
It is a 4 day festival. Every house is
decorated with lights. All over crackers are
bursting. The entrance of house is decorated with
design made from special colours and the design
is called Rangoli. Entire surrounding is filled
with the air of enthusiasm and joy. And
one special thing to note here is that during
this festival, the official New year starts for
Hindu religion.

5Navaratra
It is also one of the biggest festival in
India. It means festival of 9 nights. It is
dedicated to Goddess Durga. The main
attraction during this festival is the
traditional group dance called Garba. People
dressed in their traditional costumes set up a
rhythmic folk dance.

Though this is not highly
religious festival, this is very much popular in
the manner it is being celebrated. Here

Every country is always proud of their
Independence day. And certainly India is among
those countries who was previously ruled by
British people. 147 years is
certainly not too short period to forget easily.
That is why there is a huge celebration of
Independence day on 15th of August.
