• What is the ETI Program?

In conjunction with the Office of Juvenile
Affairs, ETI is developing relationships with
various youth agencies, schools, neighborhood
associations, and the police department to
intervene in gang membership and delinquent
activity for young people in six targeted
neighborhoods in Oklahoma City.

Program Goal

• The goal of The Gang Intervention Program is to
  reduce the likelihood of continued gang
  involvement by our targeted clients by providing
  individualized, quality services that improve the
  mental, social, and emotional status of the
  client, as well as enhances their coping skills.
• The Gang Intervention Program provides intensive
  Gang awareness and deterrence program for
  gang-involved youth ages 10-18 years old and
  their families.

• ETIs Annual Goals

GOAL ONE Reduce the numbers of gang-involved
Youthful Offenders involved in the Office of
Juvenile Affairs that re-offend. Objective One
Engage 25 Youthful Offenders in individualized
gang suppression activities each 12 month time
period.
GOAL TWO Reduce the numbers of gang-involved
First and Second Time Offenders involved in the
Oklahoma County Juvenile Bureau that
re-offend. Objective One Engage 75
gang-involved First and Second Time Offenders in
individualized gang suppression activities each
12 month time period.

GOAL THREE Reduce the numbers of at-risk for
gang-involvement youth in schools and the
community that join gangs and potentially get
involved into the juvenile justice
system. Objective One Engage 75 at-risk for
gang-involvement youth in individualized gang
suppression activities each 12 month time period.
GOAL FOUR Increase the communitys awareness of
gang issues and the appropriate strategies for
eliminating gang activity and juvenile
delinquency. Objective One Engage and train 30
parents residing in identified target zones of
high gang activity and juvenile delinquency each
12 month time period. Objective Two Engage and
train 40 teachers working in schools in
identified target zones of high gang activity and
juvenile delinquency each 12 month time
period. Objective Three Engage and train 30
community members residing in identified target
zones of high gang activity and juvenile
delinquency each 12 month time period.

Intake and Assessment

• ETI receives referrals from area schools, the
  Juvenile Bureau, the Office of Juvenile Affairs,
  law enforcement, parents, and other gang-involved
  youth!
• Assessment and Service Development ETI meets
  with the client and their family to develop an
  individual program of services based on their
  initial referral. The comprehensive, data-driven
  assessment of the gang problem
• Identifies the most serious and prevalent
  gang-related problems.
• Determines factors contributing to gang problems.
• Identifies and implements activities for
  intervention and prevention efforts.
• Identifies organizational or systems issues that
  must be addressed in order to have a long-term
  effect on the problem.

Program Services

• Client Monitoring ETI communicates with each of
  its clients daily.  We personally visit with each
  client at least once a week for home visits and
  service provision.
• Employment Assistance ETI provides the
  Getting-In and Staying in a Job Workforce
  Development program to all clients that are in
  need of employment.  We address job-search
  techniques, completing applications, interview
  skills, etc.
• Educational Assistance ETI facilitates the
  clients enrollment in an educational program and
  provides support to the youth as they work to
  complete their educational requirements.
   Additionally, ETI offers tutoring support to
  clients in an effort to improve academic standing
  of our clients.
• Anti-Gang Education Sessions ETI provides a wide
  variety of gang intervention services including
  office-based and school-based services.  ETI
  utilizes a 12-week curriculum that provides the
  client social skills training, problem solving
  skills, gang intervention strategies, and other
  pertinent topics.  Additionally, each client
  works with a mentor in an effort to provide
  positive modeling.

• Narcotics Anonymous provides a recovery process
  and support network inextricably linked together.
  Members share their successes and challenges in
  overcoming active addiction and living drug-free
  productive lives through the application of the
  principles contained within the Twelve Steps and
  Twelve Traditions of NA.
• These principles are the core of the Narcotics
  Anonymous recovery program. Principles
  incorporated within the steps include
• admitting there is a problem
• seeking help
• engaging in a thorough self-examination
• confidential self-disclosure
• making amends for harm done and
• helping other drug addicts who want to recover.

• Family Counseling Face-to-face interaction
  between a clinician and family is provided to
  facilitate emotional, psychological, and
  behavioral changes and promote successful
  communication and understanding.
• Family counseling is provided for the benefit of
  the identified client, and is specified as a
  component on the clients treatment plan. Family
  counseling is provided by a Mental Health
  Professional as designated in standards set by
  the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.Family
  Intervention Services ETI utilizes a modified
  version of the Strengthening Families Program
  which is a parent, youth and family
  skills-building curriculum designed to
• Prevent Gang activity
• Prevent teen substance abuse and other behavior
  problems   
• Strengthen parenting skills
• Build family strengths
