What is a Prostate
  • Prostate is a gland that is found only in males.
  • Its about the size of a walnut
  • The male prostate is located below the bladder
    and in front of the rectum.
  • The tube that carries urine (urethra) runs
    through the prostate

  • Prostate cancer usually occurs in males over the
    age of 45
  • Prostate cancer is the second to lung cancer as a
    cause of cancer-related deaths among men
  • There is no way to detect this disease early on

Prostate Cancer inAfrican American Males
  • African American males have the highest rate of
    prostate cancer in the world and the lowest rate
    of survival
  • Black men in America are 1.5 times as likely to
    develop prostate cancer and are 2 to 3 times as
    likely to die from the disease than white men
