alkaline conditions hardstem bulrush is more
    tolerant of brackish water.

Cattail
  • Common Cattail

quiet waters in suboceanic, cool, temperate
    regions with relatively mild winters.

5
Pondweed
  • Habitat
  • Is commonly found in alkaline and high nutrient
waters, preferring soft substrate and shallow
water depths. It tolerates low light and low
    water temperatures.
  • Where found
  • It has been reported in all states but Maine

6
Smartweed
  • Where found
  • Occurs in every county of Illinois, and is
    common.
  • Habitat
  • It can be found in moist black soil prairies,
swamps, near ponds or lakes, edges of marshes,
abandoned fields, moist areas along railroads and
roadsides, vacant lots, fence rows, and other
    waste areas.

Fescue
  • The primary habitats
  • For tall fescue are agricultural fields and
pastures and former tall-grass prairie. It also
grows well in disturbed and waste areas such as
highway and railroad right of ways.
  • Where found
  • Tall fescue occurs throughout the continental
U.S. and has been reported to be invasive in
natural areas in Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas,
Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New
    Jersey, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington,
    and Wisconsin.

9
Multiflora Rose
  • Habitat
  • Has a wide tolerance for various soil, moisture,
    and light conditions.
  • Where found
  • It occurs in dense woods, prairies, along stream
banks and roadsides and in open fields and
    pastures.

10
Purple Loosestrife
  • Where found
  • In wetlands such as cattail marshes, sedge
meadows and open bogs. It also occurs along
streams, riverbanks, and lakeshores. It is not
uncommon to find it growing in man-made
storm-water retention ponds and in ditches next
    to parking lots and roads.
  • Habitat
  • Grows best in highly organic soils, but tolerates
a wide range of soils including clay, sand, muck

Acreage Grid
  • Uses an overlay that can be placed over a
    photograph to estimate acreage quickly.

13
Aerial Net
  • The black mesh net is an aerial net. It is a type
    of insect collecting net.
