• Makeup was a very important part of Egyptian
  culture, and Egyptians frequently stretched their
  earlobes to accommodate ornate pieces of jewelry

Otzi the Iceman

• When a preserved man was found encased in ice in
  the 1990s it was found that the man had
  approximately 57 tattoos of dots and designs, and
  had a pierced septum.
• The iceman was believed to have lived in 3300 BC.

• Many different tribes and cultures have painted
  their bodies for different reasons, whether it be
  for war, celebration, or decoration.

• As stated earlier, tattoos have been around since
  the Bronze Age, and many different cultures have
  had some form of tattooing, including the Celts,
  Ancient New Zealanders (Maori), Chinese,
  Persians, and Africans.
• Tattoos are created by depositing a colored
  material underneath the skin.

• Today around the world, there are many various
  types of Body Art.
• Tattoos and piercings have been around since the
  1920s in America, but have recently surged in
  popularity.
• Additionally, Henna (Indian body art) and
  Airbrushing are popular mediums for body art.
