  • Amide bonds form upon reaction of carboxylic
    acids with ammonia, primary amines or secondary
    amines.

  • Proteins are polymers of amino acid monomers held
    together by peptide bonds.
  • Roles of proteins
  • Gene expression is due to proteins

    alpha-helix or the beta-sheet).
