The Mondi HLP-Box

• The Mondi Heavy Load Packaging (HLP) was
  developed out of the need for a simple and cost
  efficient high performance box for the automotive
  sector. Here one so called CKD-box has to carry
  several hundred kilos of load and to support a
  stack of up to three other boxes. While other
  existing solutions combine up to five different
  materials to achieve this performance, the HLP
  box is completely made out of corrugated board
  and thus very easy to recycle.
• The basic HLP-box consists of a box on a
  corrugated pallet that is supported by a strong
  internal frame. It can be folded to reduce its
  empty size. To facilitate field operations no
  tools are needed to assemble the whole unit. The
  HLP-box can be delivered with an internal matrix
  to support special parts like motors or
  gearboxes.
• Several other optional features can be integrated
  according to the specifications of the customer
  like an integrated anti-corrosive coating or
  inflatable/foam inlays to provide additional
  protection. The modular structure of the HLP-box
  allows a wide variety of sizes and structures. As
  the design is simple but bases on excellent
  material quality the box can be used several
  times and be refurbished easily (multi-way use).

The secret of the simplicty of the frame is that
the parts are constructed in a way that the form
of the parts prevents them to collapse to the
inside of the box, while at the same time the
outer box provides a stabilising outer pressue.
