Exercise 10A Slow Flight

• Aim
• To become familiar with the feel of the aircraft
  in slow flight just above the stall speed, and to
  recognise the symptoms of the incipient stall.
  Also to restore the air-craft to safe flight
  before the stall occurs.

Stall and stall speed

• In steady level flight , as airspeed is reduced
  angle of attack will also increase
• This will happen whenever the airspeed is
  reduced, regardless of whether the aircraft is
  level or gliding

If flown too slowly the angle of attack will
exceed the critical angle and the air flow will
stall

• Pre stall check
• H.A.S.E.LL
• H Height min 1000ft agl for exercise
• A Airframe secure
• S Security straps, Helmets, Loose articles
• E Engine- Temp
• L Location Airspace, Drift, Habitation.
• Lookout Lookout Clearing turn. Look above and
  below
• This check should be repeated once every
  3 to 4 minutes or more often in poor visibility
