Wednesday Warm-up (111)
  • List as many places as you can think of where you
    might find water (as ice, water, or water vapor).

Water Distribution
  • Fill the 1 L beaker with 1000 mL of water.
  • This represents all the water in the world.
  • Carefully pour 30 mL in graduated cylinder.
  • This represents all the fresh water. (Put salt in
    the rest)
  • Carefully 6 mL in 10 mL graduated cylinder.
  • This represents fresh water not frozen
  • Pour all but 1.5 mL on sand.
  • 1.5 mL represents surface water.
  • Take 3 drops out this is all that is available
    to use (not polluted or otherwise not available)

    water?
  • What percent of the fresh water is not frozen?
  • Hints 30 mL out of 1000 mL and 6 mL out of 30 mL.
